Turdimurod Rakhmanov Jan 26, 2018:
How about front or advance line ditch or moat
A ditch in military engineering is an obstacle, designed to slow down or break up an attacking forc
A moat is a deep, broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, that is dug and surrounds a castle, fortification, building or town, historically to provide it with a preliminary line of defence. In some places moats evolved into more extensive water defences, including natural or artificial lakes, dams and sluices. In older fortifications, such as hillforts, they are usually referred to simply as ditches, although the function is similar. In later periods, moats or water defences may be largely ornamental.
And there is a term "GORGE"

Here are a couple of diagrams of a trench system. Actually, these seem to be two illustrations of the same description.

Are you sure that a front trench is always manned? I've seen references to "unmanned trenches" or "lightly manned trenches," which can be the front trench. Another possibility is "obstacle trench," or in your context (such as you've shown it), maybe "outer obstacle trench." ... On the other hand, I may be stuck in World War I and you may be in some other era.
Note from asker:
I do appreciate your answer Rachel. The "передовой ров" is not manned by people, as a front-line trench is. it is a place with obstacles to slow the attacking forces in the kill zone.

Abatis

This must be Abatis:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abatis
An abatis, abattis, or abbattis is a field fortification consisting of an obstacle formed (in the modern era) of the branches of trees laid in a row, with the sharpened tops directed outwards, towards the enemy. The trees are usually interlaced or tied with wire. Abatis are used alone or in combination with wire entanglements and other obstacles

IN this context:
Abatis is used with wire entanglements or wire obstacles.
Note from asker:
Hi Mr.Rakhmanov, i did my army service as a combat engineer, abatis is something else. Examples we were shown were in a wooded area. This is an unmanned trench or depression with camouflaged obstacles to trap enemy in zone where they can be killed off. Excellent research however. You give good suggestions and help get thoughts flowing.
