İyi günler,
Fransa'daki bir çeviri bürosunun çevirmen pozisyonuna başvuru yaptım.
Başvuruma verilen cevapta Türkçe'den Fransızca'ya ve Fransızca'dan Türkçe'ye yapılan 1 sayfalık çeviri işine ne kadar ücret aldığımı soruyorlar.
Benim bu konuda pek bir fikrim yok. Bu konuda ne kadar alındığını söylerseniz çok mutlu olurum.

Merhaba Cempik,
Je suis désolée de répondre en français, mais mon turc écrit est vraiment un désastre que je préfère ne pas infliger aux Proziens turcs.
Je travaille en France et la plupart de mes clients considèrent le turc comme une langue "rare". Les tarifs sont donc plus élevés que pour d'autres langues plus courantes.
Difficile aussi de donner un tarif par page--une page peut contenir 10 mots ou 1000 mots!

Il faut également évaluer la difficulté du texte et le domaine de spécialisation.
Personnellement, je ne démarrerai pas à moins de .12 euro le mot source pour le turc, mais peut-être que nos collègues auront d'autres avis à te donner.

Again, sorry not to write in Turkish in the Turkish forum, but you probably wouldn't understand if I did!
Translation agencies charge their customers up to 24 euro cents per word for Turkish in France. It is a "rare" language and a valuable skill and I don't see why skilled translators should charge less just because they live in Turkey (where the cost of living is not *that* cheap). I know that in Turkey, market translation rates are lower, but if the agency is in France, the translator should take that into account. Why should the French agency have a 100% margin or more just because the translator lives in Turkey?

You can always, try... (I hear you lived in Izmir for a few years, I'm sure you can string a sentence or two.)
I'm afraid I wasn't clear enough. I wasn't trying to persuade Cempik to charge a lower rate just because he or she lives in Turkey. It was meant more like a warning that a lot of translators based in Turkey will offer low rates and that might make it a little harder for a translator demanding decent pay by Western European standards. The challenge is to rise above the rest and also to get the agency to understand that it should offer a good rate if it wants high-quality translation. A lot of times these agencies get what they pay for, but the lesson doesn't seem to sink in, at least for some of them.
