It helps, but I am wondering if there's the possibility to have bold dividing lines between the segments, as in Wordfast Pro, for instance.

No such possibility in the options.

Is the background in your editor white?

It was white, I now changed to light gray which is better for the eyes.
But I'd really like a little more distance/clearer separation between the segments for better readability.

My favorite screen color is 215.230.215 - light greyish green which is very comfortable for eyes; when used in Trados it gives nice alternating coloring of segments:

Thanks again. Will play around some with colours. But your screen colour 215.230.215 is bright red, here on my machine and I do not have the option Segment shading ratio.

It is my fault - I put fullstops instead of semicolon; the color coding should be:
215; 230; 215
