Dear friends,

Many a times we become mechanics and just deal with the techanical part of the translation like context and message, grammar etc. How often do we try to beautify our translation by using proverbs or parables?

How often can we translate a proverb in the exact way it was told in the source. So here, i am listing some proverbs, for which we can find out best possible translation and let us also try to find out exact context(s) for making their use in our prac... See more

How often can we translate a proverb in the exact way it was told in the source. So here, i am listing some proverbs, for which we can find out best possible translation and let us also try to find out exact context(s) for making their use in our practical translation job.

Gujarati Parables/Proverbs :

નહીં બોલવામાં નવ ગુણ.
બોલે તેના બોર વેચાય.
જંગ જીત્યોરે મારો કાણિયો, વહુ ચલે તબ જાણીયો.
ઘરડાં ગાડાં વાળે.
કાગનું બેસવું ને ડાળનું પડવું.
રાજાને ગમે તે રાણી ધોળી હોય કે કાણી.
પાંચે આંગળી સરખી ના હોય.
સો સૂનારની એક લુહારની
હીરો ઘોઘે જઈ આવ્યો ને ડેલે હાથ દઈ આવ્યો

કોઇ પણ અનુવાદમાં મૂળ લેખની ભાવનાને જીવંત રાખવી અને તેમ છ્તાં અનુવાદિત ભાષાના વાચકને સમજણ પડે તેમ જ તેને રસ પણ પડે તેમ કરવું તે જ તો અનુવાદની ખરી કળા છે.

કોઇ પણ અનુવાદમાં મૂળ લેખની ભાવનાને જીવંત રાખવી અને તેમ છ્તાં અનુવાદિત ભાષાના વાચકને સમજણ પડે તેમ જ તેને રસ પણ પડે તેમ કરવું તે જ તો અનુવાદની ખરી કળા છે.

આ કામ જ્યારે કોઇપણ સાહિત્યિક કૃતિનો અનુવાદ કરતાં હોઇએ ત્યારે વધારે વિકટ થઇ શકતો હોય છે.અને તેથી જ સાહિત્યિક કૃતિઓના અનુવાદ જેઓ અનુવાદિત ભાષામાં સાહિત્યિક કામ કરતાં હોય તેઓમાટે વધારે અનુકુળ ગણાતું હોય છે.
તે જ રીતે બીનસાહિત્યિક ભાષામાં મૂળ લેખમાં વપરાયેલ ચોક્કસ શબ્દોનો મૂળ લેખના સંદર્ભસાથે સુસંગત રહે તેવો અનુવાદ કરવો તે પણ મોટો પડકાર બની રહેતો હોય છે.
માટે જ અનુવાદક હંમેશાં નવા પ્રયોગોની સાથે અવગત રહે તે તેના ખુદના વિકાસ અને તેના અનુવાદોની પરિપક્વતામાટે મહત્વનું બની રહેતું હોય છે.
આ દ્રષ્ટિએ કહેવતો કે મુહાવરા કે રૂઢપ્રયોગોના અનુવાદ કરતી વખતે અનુવાદિત ભાષામાં તેની સમકક્ષ જે રૂપક મળે તે વાપરવાનો પ્રય્ત્ન કરવો જોઇએ. જો તેમ શક્ય ન હોય તો તે કહેવતો કે મુહાવરા કે રૂઢપ્રયોગોના અર્થનો ભાવાનુવાદ કરવો જોઇએ તેમ મારૂં માનવું છે. ▲ Collapse
