Bio

I studied and researched translation as part of my graduate studies at Harvard. My master’s and doctoral theses include translation of Korean literature into English. As a bicultural bilingual between Korea/Korean and the US/English, I’ve been translating and interpreting between the two languages most of my life, and for over a decade as a professional.

Translation work experience includes: a full-length biography of a Korean politician; short stories and novellas by contemporary Korean writers for a bilingual series of books; website localization for small Korean-American businesses catering to non-Korean clients; K-pop song lyrics and interviews; bylaws for a government-associated organization; youtube videos on K-pop, language learning, beauty product reviews and demos; product descriptions for e-commerce pages; legal documents and contracts; annual reports from non-profit organizations; social media contents (facebook, instagram); bios and intros for artists' shows and brochures; a graphic novel; partial scripts for an American tv show.

Interpretation work experience includes: Korean actors, filmmakers, writers, and K-pop artists for interviews, and Q&As; Korean media professionals, professors, and Korean and US government officials for lectures, speeches, and meetings; Korean and US corporate clients for business meetings, corporate and private events.

Whatever I translate or interpret is done with precision as well as with sensitivity to the purpose of the source material/speech; I’ve been doing translation, localization, and transcreation since before the latter terms became popular.
