THE INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
You are invited to take part in this research study of a study drug known as Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection as you have been diagnosed with metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer and in the opinion of your doctor you need Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection for your treatment. The study drug (Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India) is already approved by DCGI (Drug Controller General of India) in patients with hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer i.e., castration resistant prostate cancer with prednisone. Intas is already marketing this drug under the Brand name of DOCEAQUALIP 20/80 (Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection 20 mg/80 mg vial) since 2013.
This consent document explains the research study and your role in the study. Please read and understand this document thoroughly. This document may contain some words which you may not understand; your study doctor will assist you in understanding the same. You can discuss about your participation with family, friends and family doctor before you decide and you can take as much time as you need before agreeing to participate in this study.
WHO IS CONDUCTING THE STUDY?
The study is being conducted by Lambda Therapeutic Research Ltd. on behalf of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India (Sponsor).
YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY
Entering a research study is completely voluntary. You are free to choose whether to take part or not to take part in the study or to stop taking part at any time and there would not be any penalty on you. You do not need to give a reason. If you do stop, it is in your best interest to tell the study staff and follow any instructions that may be given to you for a safe withdrawal from study drug.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS RESEARCH STUDY?
• This study involves research of the study drug.
• The study drug (Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India) is already approved by DCGI (Drug Controller General of India) in patients with androgen independent (hormone refractory) metastatic prostate cancer also known as castration resistant prostate cancer with prednisone. Intas is already marketing this drug under the Brand name of DOCEAQUALIP 20/80 (Docetaxel Lipid Suspension for Injection 20 mg/80 mg vial) since 2013.
• This study is being conducted to obtain additional data on the efficacy and safety of study drug in patients with metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer. Total 86 patients across India will be part of this study.
• You can ask questions to your study doctor about anything that you don’t understand both now and later during the course of study.
• If your study doctor is not the same as your family doctor, for your own safety, you should tell your family doctor that you are participating in a research study. Please discuss any concerns about this with your study doctor.
• While you are in this study, the study team will keep you informed of any new information discovered or identified during the study that could affect your decision whether to continue or withdraw from the study.
