With a forest coverage of 74%, and greenery rate of 92%, the average forest growth rate in Nanping is 1.5 times high as the national average as 6.9%. Its forest area covers 19.5 thousand square kilometers, accounting for 23.5% of the provincial total.
The volume of standing timber in Nanping amounts to 134 million cubic meters, taking up one-third of the provincial total.
Nanping is one of the best eco reserve at the same latitude in the world. Lying in the north of Nanping, Wiyi Mountains contain the largest, most representative example of a largely intact forest encompassing the diversity of the Chinese middle subtropical forest eco system in southeast China, and was designated as Biosphere Reserve of Man and Biosphere Program by UNESCO in 1987, and was inscribed as World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.

Source text - English Nanping, boasts a name of “a bamboo shoots city of China” and “the home of bamboo of China”, is the major production area of bamboo shoots and most suitable region of moso bamboo all over the country.
Nanping has a total area of bamboo forest over one million acres, over 90% are moso bamboo forests, and this number accounts for 40% of the whole Fujian Province and 10% of the whole country. There are 119 towns and villages are the bamboo production area, with about 0.3 million people producing, processing and engaging in bamboo industry, the annual output of bamboo wood is over 170 million pieces, fresh bamboo shoots over 6 million tons, per acr output value is 24 US dollars, the annual per capita income is over 400 US dollars, which accounts for 25% of famer’s annual per capita net income. The bamboo industry has reached its golden time when Nanping has set a strategy of accelerating the development of green economy and building a demonstration area of green development. Since 2013, Nanping municipal party committee and government, based on municipal conditions, has taken bamboo industry as an important grasp on the fulfilling of making people rich, making ecology sound and propelling accurate poverty alleviation drive. Source text - English Nanping is in the north of Fujian Province, at 117 degree to 119 degree 25 minutes of east longitude, 26 degree 39 minutes to 28degree 20 minutes of north latitude, bears a subtropical monsoon climate, annual temperature is 17 degree to 19 degree, annual rainfall is 1750 to 1900 millimeters. Nanping has a favorable climate and geography for tea production. Since the ancient times, Nanping is well-known by the whole country as a famous tea production area. Among 6 famous Chinese tea, the black tea, oolong tea and white tea was native to Nanping. Since the ancient Tang dynasty, the emperor set royal tea garden in Jian’ou county and Wuyishan county. Besides, the spread of Wuyishan tea seeds and tea processing technology contributed the tea economy boom in India and Sri Lanka, the export of Wuyi black tea and tea culture even created a rage of “afternoon tea culture” in Britain.
By now, Nanping is the main tea production area of Fujian province. First of all, Nanping has a big tea industry scale. In 2015, the tea garden area was over 100 thousand acres, accounts for 16.7% of the provincial total. Tea production was 68 thousand tons, accounts for 18.3% of the provincial total. The total value of output was 565 million US dollars. Among which black tea production was 14909 tons, green tea 20741 tons, oolong tea 28162 tons and white tea is 3854 tons. 3500 tons of tea was exported to over 60 countries. There are 10 counties under Nanping jurisdiction, 6 of them has a tea garden area of over 83 thousand acres. Now Nanping has 4 major tea producing areas, Wuyishan, Jian’ou, Jianyang are featured as oolong tea, Wuyishan, zhenghe, Guangze are featured as black tea, Songxi, zhenghe, Shaowu are featured as green tea, zhenghe, Jianyang are featured as white tea. What’s more, Nanping also has a high tea industry level. It has over 4000 tea processing enterprises; production output value is about 1.2 billion US dollars, we have 60 tea enterprises above designated size, total output value is 978 million US dollars. Nanping has a total eco-tea base area of over 50 thousand acres, 11 national tea demonstration bases, with an area of over 1666 acres. Last but not least, Nanping has a famous tea industry brand. With good foundation, broad platform and talented person, the development of electromechanical manufacturing industry in Nanping will surely have great prospective. Up to the end of 2015, industrial enterprises above state designated scale of electromechanical manufacturing in Nanping amount to 110, which produce the output of 229.88 billion yuan in 2015. Sunlight Cable is one of the ten best-selling brands of cable industry in China. Nanfu Battery ranks first in some fields of economy and technology of battery industry in China, and the domestic market share of alkaline battery reaches up to more than 70%.
