I am highly educated with a Swedish degree in chemical engineering and an MSc in biology from Uppsala University, Sweden. My specialist subjects are biology, biochemistry, genetics, medicine, and technical issues, but my translation projects also include fields such as tourism, marketing, social inclusion, pulp and paper, printing and publishing, and DVD subtitling.
I am a native Swedish speaker who has lived, studied and worked in Britain for six years. I have worked as a freelance translator for five years, collaborating with agencies in the USA, Spain, France, Scotland, and England. I also work as a teacher of Scottish traditional fiddle music. I regularly visit Sweden and keep up-to-date with Swedish news and the Swedish language.
My latest projects include instruction manuals for wheelchair accessories, film subtitling, and translating and recording the Swedish voice-over for The Official Loch Ness Exhibition Centre's special effects monster presentation.
I charge a minimum of Euro0.10/USD0.12 per source word (GBP65 per 1,000 source words), with a minimum fee of Euro30/USD30 (GBP20).
The quickest way to contact me is by calling my office number or my mobile telephone number, combined with sending an e-mail message if you so wish.
I have excellent computing and IT facilities, including Word 98 and a free-standing fax machine.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for reliable, easy-to-contact language service with great attention to style.
Many thanks,
Sofie Jonsson
