A Qualified Member (MITI) of the UK Institute of Translation and Interpreting, I have been working as a professional French and Spanish to English translator since 2012. My aim is to deliver precise, clear and effective translations that reflect each client's priorities, goals and values.
I got the bug for translation while studying for my French A-level aged 16. Having excelled in a legal translation module in 2012 during the study-abroad segment of my BA in Modern Languages (French and Spanish), I went on to study an MA in Translation and have been working as a freelance translator ever since. I lived in Valencia (Spain) for 3 years and am now back in the UK.
I discovered a passion for wine as an intern for a school in Bordeaux that combined French language lessons with wine classes, tastings and vineyard tours. While translating professionally I have also gained broader experience in the areas of marketing and PR, tourism and travel, social development and sustainability.
Projects with a progressive, environmental or collaborative focus are particularly close to my heart. I have worked on a plethora of texts for European and international organisations, inspiring and innovative businesses, and NGOs including Humanium and Prisoners Abroad.
My enthusiasm for the sectors I work in has propelled me to become a thorough and consistent translator. Whether it's a transformative project, a new breakthrough project or important information, you can be sure I'll craft the message carefully. I'll research and redraft until I get it right.
Experience
I can deliver specialised and compelling translations, focusing on:
Marketing, PR & communications for ethically-conscious businesses, organisations and projects: press packs, campaign materials and internal documents, inc. technical documents related to environmental footprints, energy usage, waste management or land use
Wine, viticulture and oenology (WSET Level 2 qualified): oenological methods, expertise on viticultural techniques and plant protection, marketing content and tasting notes
Tourism and travel: marketing for captivating travel destinations, accommodation, tours, cultural sites and events
Social development: research, proposals, communications and campaign materials relating to equality, policy making, capacity building and human rights
Legal documents related to the above fields and official documents: contracts, terms and conditions, police documents, family law documents and certificates
☆ I also provide audio/video transcription services for many dialects of Spanish, and English (monolingual).
