I am an American 19 year veteran elementary school English teacher with a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate earned from the Tokyo Language Arts College in Tokyo. I have been in Japan for 20 years and have a Level 1 (the highest level mastering a minimum of 2000 Kanji and 10,000 words) Japanese Language Proficiency Test Certificate. I worked two years at the Narita Board of Education translating teaching curriculum, acting as a translator for my department as well as foreign teachers and two mayors. I can not only read Kanji well, but I can also write it without a dictionary. I am also a college student trying to get my Bachelor's Degree in Education from a Japanese university in which all classes and texts are in Japanese. I enjoy and can translate a wide array of general topics and have done simultaneous interpretation in the past. I am looking forward to the opportunity to test my skills.
