Russian to English: Translation of a Poem by Sergey Fomichev from Russian into English. General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Russian
Translation - English Those eyes of yours… They’re innocent and tender. They’re like a softest veil forgotten on the sand. You’re here. You’re near. And… still so far away
The voice of yours is quieter than ever.
Your eyes are breathing grey waves of the sea,
A pleasant taste of our evening wine.
And I can hear your sigh, can feel your hand in mine,
Your quiet step is full of mystery.
Sergey Fomichev. 1994
English to Russian: Poem Translation. Russian to English. General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English
Translation - Russian The room’s full of smoke as a restaurant dim.
I’m looking around
Eagerly.
Floating in mud, up from the streets,
This day has passed
Easily.
Who did I look for? Wanted to chat?
I was happy to see
Anyone.
Having come back, as it should be
I'll close my eyes
Lightly now.
I've been trying to reach the other line
But in vain, there are leaves on the ground.
I'm collecting these leaves
And put them in heaps
As the words of the book to be bound.
Just to make it clear, riding in the dark,
Like a butterfly seeing the light.
And this song I’ve been working to save
I’m still trying to put it right.

General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English

Translation - Russian There is a beast hiding in her heart
Which you can’t put a finger on.
There’s a snow storm inside her heart
So take care, when you’re with her.
Disappearing in the dull days
All the deep pain will subside.
Get to love her, but not the role,
And you’ll still find her by your side.
