Discussion

Lancashireman May 16, 2010:
"Yes, to avoid the repetition." Not only did the "winning answer" here repeat information already supplied 80 minutes earlier, you also deemed it a worthy winner on the next question too: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/military_defense... (i.e. eight points for the same term) You seem to apply your policy of repetition avoidance inconsistently. In future, please read all answers submitted in full, including supplementary notes (not that I shall be contributing, however).

Short answer to Andrew's question back in November Yes, to avoid the repetition.
(I did not see your question at that time as I was off the line from late Novemberuntil the beginning of January.)
Lancashireman Nov 27, 2009:
Post-grading Thanks. You've just answered my question. See wording: http://www.proz.com/siterules/kudoz_asking/2.6#2.6 ("...the answer deemed most helpful..."). The answer selected distinguished itself by stressing the importance of the wording in brackets (Marine Engineering). I note, however, that you have chosen to omit this in your glossary entry. Did you perhaps feel that it was redundant (i.e. repetition of 'Engineering')?
Lancashireman Nov 23, 2009:
Would you like me to post a new answer on the basis of this information or is it OK just to add further information to the answer already given at 20 mins? Or should I leave it to someone else in a couple of hours' time?
transatgees (asker) Nov 23, 2009:
Royal navy equivalent if at all possible please.

Selected

Petty Officer Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering)

The NATO rank equivalent of Maat is OR-6, equating to Petty Officer in the Royal Navy. Chief Petty Officer equates to OR-7.

Andrew's note at 40 mins is similar except for the words in brackets. I would be happy if he is awarded the points.

US or Royal Navy equivalent?

See 'Stoker': http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/training-and-people/rn-life/navy...
Apparently now replaced by 'Engineering Mechanic'.
