I cannot say if desire to conceive or to become pregnant is the better term, but to the "gastrocopy" comments: "Bauchspiegelung" is not a Magenspiegelung (gastroscopy), it's definitely a "laparoscopy".

it wouldn\'t be a gastroscopy as mentioned above as that is to do with stomach and digestion, a close friend of mine had a laparoscopy as part of infertility investigations

agree Kathleen : In 1996, I had a"Bauchspiegelung wegen Kinderwunsch" myself; it is a labaroscopy due to the desire to have a family/children. Basically, it is to check ovarian function, and to check for cysts.
