Please tell us what the thing looks like. Since it's in a catalog, I assume you have a picture. Otherwise we can only guess.

Do you havea picture of the caraffe? Does the handle have the appearance of a branch or is only the surface colored/structured like wood?

neutral Ken Cox : The 'dickes Echtholz mit Astoptik'? is apparently knotty pine, and in that case 'Astoptik' means it has visible knots.

Not sure where you have that quote from, but I get the feeling it has various meanings depending on its context. I guess the asker will have to choose the most appropriate amongst our suggestions.

I think this refers to a pattern, especially because quite a few links say "mit Astoptik". Besides, the root of the word is "AST", which means "branch" and the second part is "OPTIK". I think that this analysis says it all - branch-like optical effect.
