Chemikant, in der Schweiz seit jüngstem auch als Chemie- und Pharmatechnologe bezeichnet, ist ein nach dem Berufsbildungsgesetz anerkannter Ausbildungsberuf in der chemischen Industrie. Bis Ende der Achtziger Jahre wurde dieser Beruf noch als Chemiefacharbeiter bezeichnet.
Chemikanten und Chemikantinnen steuern und überwachen die für den Verfahrensprozess der Produktion von Chemikalien notwendigen Maschinen und Anlagen.
Sie füllen die Rohstoffe in Behältnisse ein und fahren die Produktionsanlagen an. Sie führen mit diesen Produktionsanlagen verfahrenstechnische Arbeiten wie Heizen, Kühlen, Rektifizieren, Extrahieren, Separieren oder Destillieren und viele andere Verfahren durch. Sie kontrollieren die Messwerte und füllen die fertigen Produkte ab. Sie entnehmen Proben zur Überprüfung der Produktqualität und führen Protokollbücher.
