Skilled chemical worker
You will be trained to become a qualified employee in chemical production within max. 3½ years. The control and supervision of chemical production processes including the necessary technical machines form part of your responsibilities. During your education you will acquire knowledge about chemicals and reaction methods. Comprehensive training enables the chemical worker to follow chemical reactions in the machine by the values displayed on gauges. This profession combines chemistry and technics.

Chemikant, in der Schweiz seit jüngstem auch als Chemie- und Pharmatechnologe bezeichnet, ist ein nach dem Berufsbildungsgesetz anerkannter Ausbildungsberuf in der chemischen Industrie. Bis Ende der Achtziger Jahre wurde dieser Beruf noch als Chemiefacharbeiter bezeichnet.
Chemikanten und Chemikantinnen steuern und überwachen die für den Verfahrensprozess der Produktion von Chemikalien notwendigen Maschinen und Anlagen.
Sie füllen die Rohstoffe in Behältnisse ein und fahren die Produktionsanlagen an. Sie führen mit diesen Produktionsanlagen verfahrenstechnische Arbeiten wie Heizen, Kühlen, Rektifizieren, Extrahieren, Separieren oder Destillieren und viele andere Verfahren durch. Sie kontrollieren die Messwerte und füllen die fertigen Produkte ab. Sie entnehmen Proben zur Überprüfung der Produktqualität und führen Protokollbücher. Sie überwachen, warten und reparieren auch die Produktionsanlagen. Außerdem sind sie an der Entwicklung verfahrenstechnischer Prozesse und der Qualitätskontrolle der hergestellten Produkte beteiligt.

Chemical technician
Duration of traineeship 3.5 years The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).
Chemical technicians work process-oriented and in teams, especially in the chemical industry and related industries (e.g. rubber, synthetic material and mineral oil processing, active substance production, waste management). They are responsible for the production, preparation and processing of chemical substances and preparations. The task spectrum includes operation and monitoring of industrial installations aided by process measuring and automatic control engineering systems, servicing and preventive maintenance of equipment and installations as well as chemical-technical work and the process-integrated determination of material constants and material properties.
