The Verbuchungsweg(nowadays usually dictated by the accounting software employed)is the linked sequence of bookings necessary to process e.g. an order from receipt to invoicing and delivery. In the most sophisticated systems, it is not possible for example to proceed to invoicing before the delivery has been recorded and the stock level updated. Here I am not quite sure why the Verbuchungsweg cannot be traced unless we are dealing with failures of the accounting system itself.
