French term or phrase: arbre encroué
In a manual about felling in forests.

From what I understand, an arbre encroué is a tree that is tangled up in another tree due to one of the trees falling. The definitions are easy to find in French, e.g.:

https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/francais/encroué/29274

https://fibois-grandest.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Les-c...

But I can't find a translation for this in English. Is there a technical term for this phenomenon in English?

Thanks a lot for any hints.

Inosculated / Conjoined

Explanation:
Could One of these be a good term for you to use? i would go with "Inosculation" if this is exactly what you need, alternatively, "conjoined" is a more general way to describe this phenomenon, which could work if "Inosculated" is not exactly the case.

Inosculation
"Inosculation is a natural phenomenon in which trunks, branches or roots of two trees grow together in a manner biologically similar to the artificial process of grafting.... "

disagree  Daryo: There is some distant similarities, but "un arbre encroué" is an unwanted accident while the inosculation is either a natural occurrence or a deliberate manipulation by humans.

a "hang-up"

Explanation:
30 years in NZ forestry and that's what we call them, they are a real pain and make felling ten times more dangerous.

Example sentence(s):
  • "Oh no Shaun's dropped that pine onto another and now it's a hang-up."
