ravelling, loss of surface materials
"Ravel(l)ing" is one of those words that means different things to different people. To some it is a particular form of distress a road surface, alongside stripping, scabbing, potholing, bleeding, flushing, etc. To others it is a generic term for loss of aggregate or of aggregate and binder by any number of processes.

stripping of surface aggregates
The term "arrachements de départ de matériaux" is certainly not a standard term.
I get the feeling that it covers several types of defects such as the "desenrobage", "pelade", and "plumage" given in Frensp's reference below, which describe the localised and generalised "wear and TEAR" of the road surface.
I have a nice link to a civil engineering dictionary to explain my use of the term stripping in this context.
I hope this helps or inspires someone else to come up with better.

: Though I'd probably omit "surface".//I'm not saying "surface" is wrong, just that it is an addition to the source expression and also somewhat redundant.

it a difficult one, and I'm not totally sure that I've got it right but thanks anyway.
