I can only find a few references to this on google. It seems to be some sort of equipment room off of a clean room (salle blanche). Does anybody know what the correct term is in English? Thanks very much.....

First of all, I think a "doigt gris" is a room (not a pair of gloves), because there is a picture of one here:

This site lists a "non-clean room" as an item in a list. Actually, though, the research on the basis of "clean room" technology seems to indicate that all this involves a gradation. The cleanest of clean rooms only have 1-5 particles of a certain micron size; that measure goes us by orders, and I found descriptions of "doigt gris 1000", which would be less clean than 100 but cleaner than 100,000, etc.

Clean Work Areas are rated by how many particles of contaminants are allowed in the workspace. Most ISS and Space Shuttle flight hardware CWAs are 100K Work Areas. That means that no more than 100,000 particles of .5 microns or larger, are permitted in the area. That may be hard to visualize in terms of a typical nonclean room, but Rachel Kamenetzky, a materials process engineer at KSC says that 100K clean work areas are quite clean. For example, normal walking in average street clothes will produce 10,000,000 particles per minute, with these particles being from 5 microns to 300 microns. The suits worn by people in clean rooms help prevent these particles from entering the clean room environment.
We seem to have gotten everywhere but to an explanation of the expression itself. Like I said, someone may know the exact equivalent. There are also references to procedures for "gowning and gloving" - in passing from a room at one level of clean to a higher level of clean (or vice-versa), you have to change your protective suit. Sometimes, though, you just have to change your gloves.
Assuming on this basis that a doigt gris is a room connected to a salle blanche, it may not be too different from a "salle grise" as mentioned above. And it might be that the doigt gris room is the room where you can still pick up a little dust via the "white glove test" - hence doigt gris.
But I don't seem to find the English sites referring to anything that way. There are clean and non-clean rooms (and even "dirty rooms", but not always in the right connection). There are rooms that have a clean side or end and a dirty side or end. But it appears to me that the particulate level number is what they go by.

Some people use "yellow" for specific premises associated with clean rooms:
The lab infrastructure has 17 recirculating fans and filter assemblies that circulate air
through the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters at 100 cubic feet/minute.
The filtered air flows from the HEPA filters, in the ceiling, to the floor. Return floor
level louvers allow the air to be taken up into the chase area and flow back up to
the ceiling for re-filtering. In addition, some 5000 cfm of air is removed from the
laboratory (Yellow Room) through process exhaust tubing (primarily from the fume
hoods) and is replaced by filtered air pumped from a makeup air system on the 11th

The air in the clean room is circulated through filters that capture any particles larger than the filter’s pore size. If common, air-born particles were to land on a wafer during processing, the chips created from that wafer would have defective structures and would not function.

: Hello, a "doigt gris" is the technical side of a clean room. It purpose is to do maintenance task without having to enter the clean room. Thus it is not a clean room at all. I found "chase room" in a drawing but can't get any other reference to confirm.
