without any other material Explanation: I agree this is confusing! "on its own" clearly means - with nothing else added - but every steam iron I ever saw said to use ONLY demineralised / distilled water |

exclusively Explanation: I just bought a Braun Freestyle iron and the instructions say "This iron is designed for tap water....Never use distilled water exclusively." it the middle it goes on to say you can use 50% distilled and 50% tap if the water is very hard. |

undilulted Language variant: without mixing with tap water Explanation: On its own can also mean "alone" but here the proper vocabulary use in context seems to be "undiluted". |
