Discussion

JaneD Sep 17, 2013:
About etc. Sorry, Gitte, what I should have said was "It doesn't mean etc. but it could be being incorrectly used to mean this, depending on what is above".
564354352 (X) Sep 17, 2013:
It does not mean etc. It means 'the same as above', i.e. each 'do' item refers to a subject in whatever phrase is mentioned before the first sentence.
JaneD Sep 17, 2013:
Etc.? It could be, I suppose, but it would depend what was the entry at the top of the list (i.e. before the "for do"s start appearing). I'm reading these entries as all referring to the machine, so I would expect the top entry to read "xxx for cutting and gluing machine".
David Rumsey (asker) Sep 16, 2013:
Could this be another way of saying, "etc."? Could this be another way of saying, "etc."?
David Rumsey (asker) Sep 16, 2013:
Danish> English Hi Mats! This is actually for a Danish document. Sorry for forgeting to double-check the language pair field!

Whereas 'ditto' is definitely used in Danish, I think it would be quite uncommon to use it in combination with 'for'.

Thanks Mats.
agree Leif Henriksen : Exactly. Danish or Norwegian works the same here, although maybe more widely used in Danish.
