For hiking trousers.
Does anyone have a reliable conversion chart from European to UK sizes? There is so much conflicting information on the web, my mind is boggled. For now, I've come up with 10-24 but I'd like to be sure.

Tops and trousers are different sizes. Size 38 is size 10 in the UK.

Among countries or at least among groups of countires, size conventions vary for women's and men's clothing and by clothing item. The correct answer depends on the audience that you are translating for. In any case, keep the original size information in your translation since this is probably how the actual clothing item reads.

Oops, I see that there\'s no conversion chart there for pants, slacks, trousers. This one may help a bit http://www.netsecure.co.nz/kiwidisposals/chart.html, and I\'ll keep looking, too.

Well, I see that I\'ve gone about this task not very well! To read the preceding link, you need to make sure that the comma is not included in the URL.
If the following can be considered authoritative, it appears to me that the Euro-UK conversion for 38-54 is actually 10-28. http://www.allaboutbali.com/sandalssize.shtml . This would be for women\'s trousers.
However, it seems in part to have to do with what European country you are converting from: http://www.talljeans.com.au/sizeconv.htm
