solifugid
I think all the answerers have provided useful information. I'm adding this because I'm not sure that falanga is the name of an individual species. It may mean a member of an order, the solifugids or Solifugidae:

Russian
Arachnids :
Acari : Kleshchi (Acariformes: Akarovye kleshchi, Parasitiformes: Parasitomorfnye kleshchi)
Amblypygi : Zhgutonogie pauki
Araneae : Pauki
Opiliones : Senokostsy
Palpigradi : Shchupal'tsekhodnye
Pseudoscorpiones : Psevdoskorpiony
Ricinulei : Retsenulei
Schizomida :
Scorpiones : Skorpiony
**Solifugae : Sol'pugi or Falangi**
Uropygi : Teliphony
Solfugids, aka solpugids, make up around 800 groups of semi tropical and tropical arachnids. They have been called sun spiders because of their activity during the day, and wind scorpions due to the notable speed at which they move. Species of the US are found in Florida, the Southwest, and north to Colorado. They fancy desert-like vincities, hiding under rocks, within cracks, and in burrows.

As you see, there\'s some variation in spelling, for instance I think \"solfugids\" above should be \"solifugids\" (fleeing the sun).
From all the above, it looks as if the falangi/solpugi are a genus or an order, at any rate more than one species.
As I understand it, the class as a whole is the Arachnidae (arachnids), and one order within this class is the Solifugidae. So the solifugidae are not true spiders (Araneae), but they belong to the same zoological class.
The Oxford English Dictionary says:
Solifuge (also solifugid): a sun spider. They\'re called \"spider\" because they look rather like spiders, but for a zoologist they\'re not spiders.

poisonous spider
In the town you have insufferable heat, boredom, and no society; if you go out into the country, you fancy poisonous spiders, scorpions, or snakes lurking under every stone and behind every bush, and beyond the fields -- mountains and the desert.

He cautiously took up from the table a dusty book on which there was lying a dead dried spider, and said: \"Only fancy, though; some little green beetle is going about its business, when suddenly a monster like this swoops down upon it. I can fancy its terror.\"

Camel Spider
Solifugae (Camel Spider)
by Mike Southey *
There is a large number of arachnid species in UAE but perhaps none has more respect in the popular imagination as the solifugae, or camel spider. There is an excellent example (under glass) in the Group\'s Workroom.

Sun spider
Sun spider
Scientific name: Eremobates sp.
(Arachnida, Solifugae: Eremobatiidae)
Facts: Sun spiders are also know as windspiders and windscorpions. The order name is spelled Solfugida sometimes which adds to the confusion.
They can run very fast - "like the wind" - which is the source for the common name. Sun spiders are found primarily in drier parts of the state. They have strong jaws that protrude forward that are used to capture prey.
