I don't really like the fascination part in English, and it doesn't improve in German. The feeling pulls at your stomach, and you are fascinated, which has unhealthy overtones. There are about three things going on here, and they shouldn't be squashed into one phrase.

The context helps a bit, but I would leave out the stomach, and concentrate on the mixture of two opposing feelings.

Ein abstossendes und zugleich faszinierendes Gefühl macht sich in deiner Magengrube breit. Or even
Ekel und Faszination zugleich machen sich in deiner Magengrube breit.
Sounds very much like an "innuendo" to the concept of the "abject".
A bit more context would be helpful.

thanks again for all your input. I'm not grading the question because there are so many good answers it would be unfair to give the points to just *one* person. Hope you're all okay with that.
The character feels drawn to something he was taught to reject - it's a bit like Star Wars actually, he belongs to the light side and the dark side is beckoning, tempting him to switch sides.
Hope that helps, and it's nice to see that so many of you have taken an interest in this sentence.
