carafe avec bouchon en forme de chardon

I suspect there may not be an exact term used here in FR, so this very literal translation seems to be used, e.g.:

Une carafe et un bouchon en forme de chardon en cristal d ...

Une carafe et un bouchon en forme de chardon en cristal d'Edimbourg avec une décoration de chardon tournée au corps et au bouchon, ainsi qu'un gobelet ...

agree Andrew Bramhall : Don't think you can get closer than that! Tony is the master of the art of understatement and self-effacement. I don't believe there even is another way to translate that sentence into French. Less of the "noblesse oblige" and a bit more confidence!

Thanks, Andrew!
agree Susan McDonald : Aye, sounds good! Here's hopin' yon decanter is fu' o' the guid stuff...

Thanks, Susan! I have to confess, my "guid stuff" rarely lasts long enough to make it into the decanter!
agree Samuël Buysschaert : Cheers! *clink*

À la tienne, Samuël !
agree Barbara Carrara : Even with the lack of context, your conf. level should be a four, if not a five here. Certainly not a one.

Thanks, Barbara! I'm not unconfident about the context, just didn't have the time to research more exhaustively in FR to see if there is some dedicated term (though I doubt it)

Decanter intended for [Scotch) whisky

The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland, so it is not surprising it might be used as a design for the stopper of a whisky decanter.

Here's one example:

agree Susan McDonald : As a Scot, I can endorse this completely! I even have some (very tiny) thistle-shaped liqueur glasses in the house somewhere...

Thanks, Susan! D'you know, now you mention that, I think I used to have one of those once... wonder if it's survived my last few house moves...
agree Andrew Bramhall : Then best seek them out Susan, and drink a toast to Tony!

Thanks, Andrew! I hope you mean 'with' Tony — nice spot of Drambuie would go down well !
