This train gives the mountain a run for its money

The train spits in the eye of the mountain...ok, maybe too glib
The train looks the mountain right in the eye
The train gives the mountain "what for"
... i know i'm getting closer...

The train will not be intimidated by the mountain
the train glares back at the mountain
tackles the mountain head on
