Coordenador de Educação Especial Após a ajuda dos colegas e contínua pesquisa, estou convencido de que "Coordenador de Educação Especial", conforme sugerido pela Ana, é o termo mais adequado.

@Fábio Just a teacher with specific training in children with special needs. On the other hand, there are also (sometimes) independent Psychologists hired by the school (or provided by the government) who work with the Coordenador do Ensino Especial. Only the Psychologist and the diretor de turma, however, have contact with the parents.

In Portugal there is noone who directly contacts parents besides the "diretor de turma". The Coordenador do ensino especial is the person who provides guidance/information to the teachers and diretores de turma about children with special needs.

In PT we have the Coordenador de Ensino Especial (responsible for the children with special needs, who liaises with the diretores de turma (a teacher responsible for a class, who in turn liaises with the parents :)
