French term

conseil partie société

French to English Law/Patents Investment / Securities private equity investment company
Hi everyone!

I'm having trouble translating the above terms, part of the following sentence: "conseil partie société / avocat partie société / avocat partie fonds d'investissement".

They're part of a list of stakeholders in a partnership between a private equity company and a film production company, and I'm totally stuck with the legal jargon... please help!!!! thanks so much in advance :)

Meaning of "partie". It's about representation. "Conseil" is probably "conseil juridique", although it may be another type of professional or consultant with knowledge, qualifications and experience which are appropriate for the context.
"Avocat" : lawyer, counsel. The choice of term will depedn on where the target reader is based (US, UK, etc).
"Partie": "party" as in the parties to the contract.

There is a little bit of shorthand in there, but not that much really. Written in full, it would read :
- conseil de la partie société, avocat de la partie société, etc.
Each party to the contract is being represented by a professional, either/or a member of the legal profession or some other type of expert.
The tricky one here is "conseil". Without more context, it is not possible to know how the term is being used. I've made suggestions. I suspect your global context will provide a clue. If not, then ask the client.

thanks for your quick response -- it's just a list of names, under the heading "Stakeholders" -- it's part of a partnership agreement, with the purpose of fundraising to produce a television series -- I don't have any context other than that. thanks for your help in advance :)

More context is needed.

company's representation on the committee

"conseil" could be either advice or a formal grouping of people called "a council"

"partie" could refer to being a "party", like someone with an interest at the table, or it could also be "part", as in, part of the council or being among that type of counsellors.

"societé" could refer either to a private firm/company or broader society.

This is the problem, not "legalese".

Due to the existence of both "conseil" and "avocat", in this case I assume that "conseil" does not refer to legal council, but rather, the existence of a council or committee.

So, I suggest "company's representation on the committee", where the company is the film production company. You may also prefer "firm" instead of "company" here.
