English term
Override function
English to French
Tech/Engineering
Electronics / Elect Eng
The "override function" is meant to interrupt the scheduled program.
It can be used to give power to the receptacle in times where it would otherwise be off...
Maybe "fonction de derivation" ? Or "fonction de régulation"?

if you determine a program for yout thermostat for instance, any override is by definition temporary. Otherwise, why even set up a program? Go for manual mode.

fonction de forçage
I often see 'forçage' used in my FR > EN work for 'override' in this sort of sense.

changement forcé
in this particular case it's the "override" button on a timer controlling for example a heating system or lights
"The "override function" is meant to interrupt the scheduled program.
It can be used to give power to the receptacle in times where it would otherwise be off..."
this "override" button is used to force the lights or heating to change (switch from OFF to ON, or vice versa) before the programmed time; basically the "override" button has priority over the commands given by the timer.
Same as someone higher in the hierarchy can "override" decisions by underlings.
It's a standard button on most timers.
obviously "changement forcé" is not a one-fit-all translation for "override"
