I did not know there are elephants in Poland (save the zoos). And what excuse was there for doctor deafness before the first elephant was imported to Poland?
I thought the idiom is about tone-deafness rather than hearing loss.

Faktycznie, ten grading istnieje. W praktyce jednak stosują go wyłącznie pasjonaci, bo z punktu widzenia lekarza POZ niewiele wnosi. Dużo praktyczniejsze jest dzielenie na tony ciche, śtedniogłośne i głośne. Z prostego powodu: wielu lekarzom słoń nadepnął na ucho (bo są tylko kudźmi) ;)
