However, we have made our client aware of the use of material and formal options (options for the recognition, measurement and presentation of certain items, as well as discretionary decisions), obtained decisions from our client in connection with these and have exercised the rights in exact compliance with the requirements stipulated by the client or its legal representatives.

recognition, measurement and presentation (or reporting) options
You got it already. The only thing I would say is that I would use "structuring options" for Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten.

: Hi Ted, whereas you are by far the most experienced and also the best accounting translator of the 5 people presently attending to this question, you have actually overlooked a mistranslation: Entscheidungsvorgaben doesn't mean decisions.

yes, I did overlook that one

: I don't see the relevance of Sebastian's comment, or why he's posted an almost identical answer, since the question is not about Entscheidungsvorgaben.

: I’d prefer “presentation” over “reporting” here to eliminate potential ambiguity.

options for the recognition, measurement and presentation/reporting
However, we have made our client aware of the use of options [for substantive or formal administration of the leeway available?] (options for the recognition, measurement and presentation/reporting of certain items, as well as discretionary decisions), obtained instructions from our client as to how to go about exercising the leeway available for administration and have administered such leeway in exact compliance with the requirements stipulated by the client or its legal representatives.
The part in hard brackets I haven't really managed to sort out.

Im Rahmen der Erstellung: and have administered such leeway ***in preparing the accounts*** in exact compliance with the requirements stipulated by the client or its legal representatives.

I think instead of putting "obtained instructions from our client as to how to go about exercising the leeway available for administration"
"obtained instructions from our client defining the leeway available for administration" would be more accurate.

Discussion
Your (as always) highly educated guess is very, very good but this time around, even if only just once, it isn't correct, technically speaking.
B) The KudoZ question quite obviously isn't about one term cuz the Asker has gotten that one right quite effortlessly, but is about the translation of the sentence.
C) The two answers were posted with no time lag, independently of one another.
