English term

what is your game right now?

English to French Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Golf
La phrase est: On a scale from one to ten, how is your game right now?

Vu qu'il n'a pas encore commencé à jouer, je me demande comment traduire sa question (What is your game right now?)

Merci!!

what is your game or how is your game? ce n'est pas la même chose

@ Asker I think the "on a scale from one to ten" is largely intended to be humorous; I think the father simply wants to know if his son is playing well at the moment or not (it may be that he hasn't actually played with him for a long time...)

So he's really saying "How well are you playing these days?" (have you been practising a lot, are you in good physical condition, etc.)

Trying to quantify it on a scale of one to ten sounds like a touch of humour; it is often used for this sort of thing, even where no actual objective quantification is possible or relevant.

Note, though, that people do talk about their game (i.e. current proficiency) in terms of 'par' — i.e., 'par' is the expected score for a given course / hole, so if your game is currently, say, '2 under par', you're playing pretty well. Anyone as bad as me at golf would probably not admit to being '18 over par', for example — but would just say they'd been "a bit off form lately" ;-)
