Italian term

regimarsi

Italian to English Other Automotive / Cars & Trucks car engine
Hello,

I am translating an automotive text about a car engine. I can't seem to find the translation for 'regimarsi'. The full sentence is 'Chiaramente, una volta effettuato l’avviamento, il motore iniziera a regimarsi termicamente fino a giungere alla temperatura d’esercizio.'

Does anyone know what it is please? Could it be 'regulate' or 'idling'?

Thank you,
Salma

Italian term (edited): regimarsi termicamente
Selected

warm up

"Regimarsi termicamente" is just a very roundabout way of saying "warm up". The writer may have chosen this wording to make it sound more complex than it is, because the whole sentence is a rather obvious statement - hence "chiaramente".
Example sentence:

Più che l'olio (che comunque deve scaldarsi anche lui), sono i componenti del motore che devono scaldarsi o, come si dovrebbe correttamente dire, "regimarsi termicamente".
