"Professore incaricato" è la vecchia definizione (pre-riforma del 1980) di quello che oggi si chiama "professore a contratto".

Si tratta di una figura che viene assunta a tempo determinato (in genere per un corso universitario o per una serie di lezioni), e che proviene dall'università stessa o dall'esterno (es.: professionisti in un campo specifico, come gli avvocati).

Questa figura in EN corrisponde al cosiddetto "adjunct professor", o "adjunct lecturer", a seconda del sistema universitario del Paese e quindi del rango accademico rivestito.

Dopo la riforma del 1980 il titolo diventa "professore a contratto", dunque va tradotto di conseguenza.
