German term

zum Verzug führen

German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Lieferverzögerungen und Kostenerhöhungen, die durch unrichtige, unvollständige oder nachträglich geänderte Angaben bzw. zur Verfügung gestellte Unterlagen entstehen, sind von XX nicht zu vertreten und können niemals zum Verzug führen.

XX cannot be held responsible for delivery delays and increases of costs which arise from incorrect, incomplete or subsequently amended information or provided documents which can never result in a delay.

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich den Satz richtig verstanden habe und wollte nur kurz fragen, ob diese Übersetzung so passt?

Vielen Dank!

Denise Baldry May 30, 2011:
English sentence construction... I think your last clause "which can never" is wrong here, because it seems to relate to the wrong part of the sentence. I think the sentence means that XX will not be responsible and in no case may be considered to be in default on account of delays in delivery or increased costs brought about by information or documents provided which are incorrect, incomplete or have been subsequently altered.
I must admit that sometimes I translate "von xx zu vertreten" as "to be ascribed to xx", as it makes life so much easier and means that the construction of the German can be largely retained. But it's a bit archaic and "translatorish".
