French term

impôts en général

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Hello,

I am translating a letter to the tax office from a company stating that following an investigation, they have been asked to suspend lease agreements for certain companies.

I am struggling with the following sentence.

Le Tribunal de Commerce attend donc de vote part ou des impôts en general la demande de radiation des sociétés qui prendra 3 mois.

My attempt:
The Commercial Court is therefore waiting for your response **** regarding the request for striking off of the companies which will take 3 months.

Could 'impôts en general' refer to the tax office here?

Thank you

Aude Sylvain Nov 7, 2010:
Fourth, Hello F. Yes, the proper term may be 'issue', I didn't check in details. Re the use of "impôts (en général)" instead of "(any dept of the) Tax office", indeed it's (poor) spoken French. But the rest of the sentence is not well written either. See e.g. "vote" instead of "votre", "general" instead of "général"...
Jack Dunwell Nov 7, 2010:
"Issuance" As a matter of subsidiary interest, isn't this just "the issue". Certainly I haven't used this word over my first "n" years of my existence.
Jack Dunwell Nov 7, 2010:
Yes, agree Aude Looking at Cornu, there seems to be little other than "striking off" (etc) for "radiation" (surprising!). To my poor understanding, the idea of using "impôts en général" in the place of say "autorités" is a bit loose.
Aude Sylvain Nov 7, 2010:
response I agree with you David, that's why I put "measure" into brackets in my comment. My understanding of the sentence is also that are waiting for the issuance of the demande de radiation.
David Goward Nov 7, 2010:
response? I agree with Aude's understanding, except that the court is not waiting for a "response", but a (written) request to strike off the companies.

Great, thank you!
AllegroTrans Nov 7, 2010:
I'm inclined to agree with Aude
Aude Sylvain Nov 7, 2010:
don't think so To me the writer is aking for a reply (or a measure) from the Tax authorities, either from his/her direct contact (de votre part) or from any other department of the tax office (des [services des] impôts en général). En général = de façon générale
So your original idea captures the meaning, Louise, it simply needs to be a bit polished imo.
LouC1482 (asker) Nov 7, 2010:
So it could be something like:
The Commercial Court is therefore waiting for your response or the general fees for striking off the companies which will take 3 months ?

Thank you

or misplaced ou des impôts la demande de radiation des sociétés qui prendra 3 mois en general.
