Persian (Farsi) term

دلشوره

Persian (Farsi) to English Art/Literary Internet, e-Commerce Website
Greetings,

The complete sentence (actually it's the title):
توصیه برای كاهش اضطراب و دلشوره

I think the pronunciation must be “delshure”. The شور part presumably means salty, but I don't see how a heart can be salty…

All the best, and many thanks,

دلشوره has most probably been derived from the idiom "شور زدن" or "دل شور زدن", which both mean "to be anxious about the future or a fear that something unpleasant is going to happen".

butterflies/stress

Your suggested pronunciation is correct. The connection شور and دل may be the same as that between butterflies and stomach!

We also say دلم شور می زند which is the same as دلشوره دارم. As for the connection between شور and دل, I'd like to add that شور means "warmth or energy, etc." as in شور و هیجان or پرشور. So, دلشوره would mean a state of excessive energy, anxiety, warmth, etc. in you.
Peer comment(s):

disagree aaryan : stress is not the same as "anxiety" and what is referred to here is anxiety. Butterflies is too inofrmal and not suitable in the context (which appears to be some psychological advice)

You're right about stress, but butterflies is actually used in titles of such web pages. Thanks anyway for your comment.
