Asset managers are for institutional investors. Wealth managers are for people. High-net-worth retail investors, yes -- they are; but for marketing purposes, "retail" is not a compliment, and "high net worth" is too crassly flattering. So "wealth management" it is.

Sachez qu'on distingue trois types de clientèle chez les banques privées. Il y a d'abord les clients «patrimoniaux» qui disposent d'actifs financiers moyens et dont les comptes sont domiciliés chez les agences VIP existantes dans les principales villes du Royaume. Ces particuliers ont pour interlocuteurs des «conseillers patrimoniaux» qui s'occupent de la gestion de leurs opérations courantes, du conseil et de la planification de la gestion de leur patrimoine. Il y a ensuite les clients «privés», dont le patrimoine est plus important, et enfin les clients «fortunés», dont les avoirs se chiffrent en centaines de millions de DH. Les comptes de ces deux derniers types de clients sont gérés par des private bankers qui opèrent au sein de cellules dédiées mises en place dans les sièges sociaux des banques.
En France, par exemple, les clients patrimoniaux sont ceux qui disposent d'avoirs compris en moyenne entre 150 000 et 1 million d'euros. Les clients privés ont pour leur part des patrimoines entre 1 et 5 millions d'euros, et ceux fortunés au-delà de 5 millions d'euros.
