German term
Erlebnisstrasse
German to English
Marketing
Tourism & Travel
German-speakers seem to love the expression "Erlebnis" at the moment. Have recently seen "Erlebnisdusche", "Erlebnisbad", "Erlebnishotel", "Erlebniswald" - and now an "Erlebnisstrasse" - it's basically a mountain pass (for cars) which includes museums, sculptures, information displays etc. along the way. So really nothing to do with adventure...

Paul Cohen
: The word "instructive" might be appropriate for selling educational materials to schools, but it definitely does not work in a broader marketing context.

adventure road
... would be another possibility.
For example:

mountain experience route
I a starting to wake up and in view of all the attractions you list this might be a good option!

: Hi, Stephen. Just a gentle reminder. It's preferable to write amendments such as this under your original answer. There's no need to make a totally new entry.

Erlebnisstraße acc. to Wikipedia und ADAC
-route. In Österreich gibt es mehr als 60 Erlebnisstraßen.
Ferienstraße acc. to ADAC:

: Interesting - we used to have scenic routes - got to get a grip on this Erlebnis thing.//Discovery is certainly a buzz word in the UK - you get discovery routes around museums. Yes, scenic route as the slow, often mistaken route, has entered the language!

Me too, am somewhat surprised at the unanimity here. In the U.S. the scenic route is what I know too - but it was always the slow route to the destination, and involved a lot of nature, which this city kid didn't care for. What is with tourist route????

Discussion
Doesn't really mean adventure or discovery, it's more like experience/event.... great experience, fun experience, interesting experience, unforgettable experience, have-to-be-made-experience.
It's definitely combined with action: Erlebnis means there will be action and/or entertainement. Can be in a restaurant ... with live-cooking for ex.
