English term

some of it deservedly so for being short termers on long-term things like that.

English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
We bought this crappy little wind business when wind was nothing but a Hula Hoop25 cents a kilowatt hour, nothing but a Hula Hoop, Immelt told business school students during a November 2007 lecture at Cornell University, which was simultaneously broadcast to students at five other universities. Now its 6 cents a kilowatt hour because weve industrialized it. So , you know big companies take a lot of heat, some of it deservedly so for being short termers on long-term things like that. But if you want to see history, I just wont concede any of it has to happen in Silicon Valley in somebodys garage. I think we can do a lot better, a lot more effectively and a lot more efficiently inside our company.

The following phrase,
"So , you know big companies take a lot of heat, some of it deservedly so for being short termers on long-term things like that." means that big companies are being criticized or blamed a lot, since they deserve to be, because this business we're talking about should be seen as a long-term matter, but many companies are short-termers, i.e. they're short-term golddiggers where they think they can earn a million dollars in 1 hour where they actually can't.

From the above context, the business that they bought was 25 cents a kilowatt hour, but now it's only 6 cents a kilowatt hour, meaning the profits are decreasing due to industrialization. They should hang on to the same old business which they bought in the first place and should not expect fast turnaround of maybe 50 cents a kilowatt hour in 3 days.

Some companies deserved the heat for (see below)

Some companies deserved the heat for focusing on quick short-term returns at the expense of long-term profitability. The situation called for a long-term approach. In this particular case, the short-term opportunistic approach proved financially disastrous to the company.
