This is for an article about War Studies at the international level.
The phrase is "...en examinant les relations entres grandes puissances dans cinq ordres internationaux."
I was thinking about using "world orders", but this seems more value laden (I am not sure if the client intends to imply such values) than a term such as "international systems", which I am beginning to prefer.
Any input would be appreciated.

I understand your desire to go with "world orders" and also your reluctance because of the weight of such a term. To my mind "world affairs" or "international affairs" sits well in a journalistic or academic framework for discussion of major world political treaties or historical times and events.

In my dictionary I found "decree" to be a translation of the French "ordre" - 3 of the events talked about are such and for the other 2, the original French is used 'entre gimets' which implies to me that even though relationships between two States is not fit into an "ordre" explicitely, the original understands this and still prefers the word "ordre".

--> Now I doubt "international systems" since it would not include the third example.
