Es geht um die neueste Mobilfunktechnologie:
"High Speed Packet Access" (HSPA) ist eine Weiterentwicklung von UMTS.

Ich habe viele Begriffe für Weiterentwicklung gefunden (advancement, enhancement, further development, evolution), aber ich habe das Gefühl, dass hier keiner so richtig passt.

The terms you suggest could all be right in some contexts, as could improvement or redevelopment. I'd probably just write "successor" here.
