Care - it's a style, inter-war, likely Fascist but possibly sth. they took over from earlier. Cf. from a book item on a 1937 park & model housing estate: 'Wie schon die Pergolen des Konzertplatzes ((in the park)) wirkte diese Umfassung schwer, stabil, wehrhaft und entsprach insofern dem sogenannten Heimatschutzstil.' (Mus. für Eur. Gartenkunst ...Benrath, Ostfildern: Hatje/Cantz, 2005).

: Hi Chris, it has all to do with the style of the shutters. Georgean windows also come in PVC./Stephen gives a very plausible explanation of the origin of Heimatschutz - i.e. Fascist period

Hi Norbert. Maybe you are right. But I am surprised that none of the 'Anbieter' use the word 'Sicherheit' but rather 'Heimatschutz'. Deshalb! ;-)
