Kann es auch heißen, dass damit das Fass zum Überlaufen gebracht wurde? Oder einfach, dass es das Ende war?

selon le contexte, vous pouvez changer l'ordre des mots. Selon moi, il serait mieux de tourner la phrase autrement, un peu comme suit : Übrigens, damals wurde (sogar) im intenationalen Radio über dieses Ereignis berichtet.
Mais l'allemand n'est pas ma langue maternelle !
" du reste " (et non " être du reste " qui n'existe pas ) = im Übrigen, übrigens
