To be honest, this is a bit of a guess, but I do know that the tibia is the anatomical term for the shin-bone :-)

Just an addendum
tibial plateau is not quite the same as Tibiagelenkfläche. The former refers to bone plus cartilage of the femorotibial joint while the latter refers to just the cartilage plus cart./bone interface.
You can crack your tibial plateau in a rather fashion with the Tibiagelenkfläche still intact.
