French term

entretiens de qualification

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) perfume
An employee is talking about how he was able to find a new job within the company in the region where he wanted to relocate. I'm not sure what he means by "entretiens de qualification". Any thoughts? Thanks, Karen

Karen Tucker (X) (asker) May 22, 2006:
I ended up asking the client because I couldn't understand why the candidate would do any type of informational or job interviewing with prospective clients. It turns out these are actually technical meetings with clients, so I'll have to close this question without grading. I really want to thank everyone for their help, though. By the way, I used to be a career counselor so I'm very familiar with the concept of informational interviewing and used to encourage all my clients to do it - not always an easy sell! Karen

I thought about that a little too. It could be that he needs to show that he has existing contacts in the new area and would be able to bring new clients in...to prove his worth as a consultant.

The company is a consulting firm and I'm not sure why the employee has to meet with clients as part of his search for a new job.

Il a l'air de s'agir dune méthode employée par les cabinets de recrutement tels que les test graphologiques je suppose qu'il s'agit d'entreteins ciblés pour savoir si le bon candidat offre les qualités requises par les chasseurs de tête et autres Bon

informational interviews

If this is an employee talking about how he found a new job, than I think this sounds like an 'informational interview':

Taken from a networking website:
Informational interviewing, a subset of networking, is just what it sounds like -- interviewing designed to produce the information you need to determine if a given employer is a good fit for you and to break into that company. It involves spending time in a focused conversation that provides key information you need to boost your career or launch a new one. The term "informational interviewing" was invented by Richard Nelson Bolles, author of the best-selling career book, What Color Is Your Parachute? Bolles refers to the process as "trying on jobs to see if they fit you." He notes that most people screen jobs and companies after they've already taken a job, while informational interviewing gives you the opportunity to conduct the screening process before accepting a position.

An informational interview is not the same as a job interview, but it is probably the most effective form of networking there is, as well as probably the most effective way to research employers.

placement interview or classification interview.

note pls: déterminer avec le client la meilleur solution pour son projet. Therefore the meetings are for placement of the projects / plans or classification of them since it involves more than one customer or project.
