According to my dictionary, this translates into a "partnership under German civil code". Since this term is used many times throughout my document, is there a more concise alternative out there?
The following is just a small example:
Der Wert der Beteiligung der dem Vermögen eines jeden Gesellschafters zugerechnet wird, entspricht seinem Anteil am GbR-Vermögen. Da die GbR im o. g. Beispiel aus zwei Gesellschaftern besteht, werden A und B jeweils 50% des GbR-Vermögens aber auch der Verbindlichkeiten zugerechnet.

but, what I'd do here is define the entity, i.e. the first time *Gesellschaft des bürgerlichen Rechts* occurs, write:
*company under [German] civil law [hereinafter the "Company"]* (in brackets because you're doing the defining)
use *Company* thereafter
