I will be on vacation from my full-time job but not sure about freelancing
No, not exactly, but as I have a few administrative tasks that I haven't had the time to do yet (mostly invoices and data for my accountant) I'll very probably take one hour or two for these...
I have a deadline on 2nd Jan. So if I finish by the 31 Dec. I will be off, otherwise I might work in the afternoon.

Yes, if there is a short project available | Dec 29, 2016 |
If I am offered a short project, given that I will not be involved in too much festive activities, I will definitely be translating.

Catching up on sleep after a night out with family - not VERY late, but it takes time to drive home.
Going to the dentist, for my sins, on January 2!
Sending the last guest home on January 3
and hosting a 'Friday beer' (which takes all afternoon and half the evening) for the neighbours on January 6 to see Christmas out and celebrate a postponed family birthday...

No, unless it's urgent. January 1st is a day for family and sleeping. I also plan to make amazing turkey sandwiches with all the leftovers.
Working can include both actual in-front-of-the-computer-generating-money kind of work and conceptual stuff such as thinking how to get more out of existing clients, developing new clients and other proactive and creative work-related activities.
When is a self-employed person not thinking about work, income and by extension the welfare and happiness of those around him or her?
Just thinking about the future is part of my work portfolio. IMHO
I will forget all about work, and have a quiet celebration with a bunch of friends - just getting ready for the new year.

Either working or doing "business development".
Or scrubbing and painting over graffiti - last year's Jan 1st was a catastrophe. People come back from parties at 3-4AM with a can of spray paint, and I'm too old to hang out on the street crossing *all* night to growl at miscreants. I'm lucky if I can prevent firework damage to the house around midnight - one street over, someone burned a random car to a black car skeleton last year by throwing a rocket under it.

No, because it's Sunday | Dec 29, 2016 |
Otherwise, I would work.
There's a project I can work on if I feel like it, but it's not urgent.
Depends what's on telly, I guess.
