As I said before (2 or 3 very similar quick polls) for some years (1985-1997) I used to have a very nice office outside of my home but then my younger daughter left the nest, I had a room free in my apartment and so I decided to move my office home... | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 04:31 Spanish to English + ...
I mainly work from my "office" i.e. a corner of my open-plan living room/kitchen, but sometimes have to work in other places, for example when I'm travelling or if my internet is down or my electricity is cut off - which happens quite frequently in the semirural area where I live. In fact, we had storms last night and I half expected problems with power cuts or Internet today, but luckily enough everything is working normally. In fact, we had storms last night and I half expected problems with power cuts or Internet today, but luckily enough everything is working normally. Although, having said that, the water supply has been off for the past couple of hours, probably due to some sort of work going on in the area - this is also a frequent occurrence and nothing to write home about. ▲ Collapse | | | DianeGM Local time: 05:31 Member (2006) Dutch to English + ... Exact carbon copy of everything Neilmac said, except I voted 'in an office, in my home'.
In my opinion, just because it doesn't have it's own walls, it doesn't mean it's not an office

An office in my home | Sep 30, 2014 |
That is completely isolated from the living space upstairs - my very own space where I am free to do whatever I want to do. If I wanted to, I could gargle Beethoven's 5th to my heart's content if I really wanted to that.

I tell customers in Tokyo that my 'commute' is just 30 seconds after rolling out of the 'futon.' They are green with envy - you can see it in that piercing look in their eyes. Maybe I should tell them that it takes me close on 2 hours (the norm for a one-way commute is around 1.5 to 2 hours) just to reach the office to create some kind of rapport or empathy with them so that I can get more work. ▲ Collapse | | | Khanda Poland Local time: 04:31 Polish to English + ... Anywhere, but at home - it's only the office | Sep 30, 2014 |
I work almost anywhere where I have at least 1 hour to spare and it's not raining directly on the laptop, but I keep a proper office at home. Prior to refurbishment I used to work in the kitchen at the dinner table, but with the kids jumping over my head, screaming and pouring soup into the keyboard, it wasn't too comfortable. | | | From a café? | Sep 30, 2014 |

It would be nice to have a separate room with a door that I could close off but we have no kids and the TVs are in other rooms. It was either this nice big room with a view and lots of light, or a tiny spare bedroom (dark) so I decided on this when we moved 2 weeks ago.

I rent a desk in a (quiet) open space 20 minutes from home. I never work at home anymore and I really enjoy the company and the separation between home and work. | | | Al Zaid United States English to Spanish + ... Not home, if I can help it | Sep 30, 2014 |
I try not to stay home for working. Home and work have their respective place and moments.
Besides, I'm a pretty outdoorsy guy (pretty used as an "intensifier", though not so bad when it comes to an "adjective" ), and I like to get out of home every day even if it's for a short while.
